Hello, I wondered if our esteemed university had considered partaking in the national teach-in, organised by the Education Activist Network, who can be found hither – http://educationactivistnetwork.wordpress.com/
Congratulations on your public expression of desire! The Art School in The Art School in the US would love to be your study abroad program: exchange students, syllabi, faculty. We’ll be following you.
This is not a contact page it’s a comment board. Actually there appears to be no way to contact you guys, which is annoying because I have an important question about people who need space for the event tomorrow.
David, sorry the email address is at the top of the page but has (at) instead of @ to stop spam trawlers selling us viagra, watches etc. I’ll email you directly with some of the organisers for this event’s contact details. Cheers.
Sorry, but I am compelled to make a small criticism: please check your spelling and use of words such as effect/affect. Such mistakes can adversely affect your image and weaken your influence.
I love today’s video, and the lectures are excellent 🙂
This initiative is wonderful, especially the idea of reading Capital, but why does it have to start so bloody early on a weekday? How are — WORKERS — supposed to attend from 4pm in the afternoon pray tell?
Not much we can do about the lecture times. There will be a parallel reading/discussion group that will take place in the evenings. Details will be posted on the blog when they are sorted.
good morning , i am Professor Frank Owen PhD MA B&Q MFI
I received my PhD from the “University of Saint Martin in the twelve hour night shifts on the factory floor since i was 16 in the fields” and i am an experienced lecturer in “subversive home improvement”
I would like to offer my congratulations and good wishes to the University of Strategic Optimism – Bravo! the idea of giving a series of public lectures, in public spaces that would otherwise be used to the detriment of the public , is genius.
where there is ingnorance and fear , may you bring truth and optimism.

I am a recent graduate concerned by the current state of our country/ economy (aren’t we all!). However, rather than smash windows at Millbank and attack the royal convey, (unfortunately leading to the branding of all disgruntled students as violent anarchists); I decided to write a song! Please have a listen, I’m sure you will love it! And help to spread this refreshingly satirical take on British politics around the world.
I wonder if one of the erudite professors at UFSO would like to give a lecture on the theme celebrated in the latest Green Paper from the Cabinet Office. A worthy successor to the free free market market. Yes, you’ve guessed! The theme is Giving. So much to say, so little time. http://www.cabinetoffice.gov.uk/resource-library/giving-green-paper.
We wholeheartedly agree! Don’t be taken anywhere by a grain of salt if you are not already friends, or if they are acting suspiciously. If they are being friendly, then we don’t know, make your own mind up?
comrades I picked up The Student Handjob at bluestockings in manhattan, I love it and I want to copy and distribute part of it at a protest encampment this weekend. even pirates gotta ask sometimes, I want yr permission so hit me back – prfunkhouser@gmail.com
The University for Strategic Optimism ceased active operations in Sept 2013
This blog has been preserved for archive purposes and in the hope that future comrades in the ongoing struggle might find some of its experiences useful. For more information on the group's former activities the 'UfSO Timeline', the 'UfSO Photograph Archive', or the post 'UfSO: (a)History and Classroom Consciousness' are a good place to start.

A random idea… but what about a freeze/mass sing-a-long style protest to this:
